COLONIE, N.Y. – The Colonie Little League team reached to the Cal Ripken Regional Final for the first time in history.

The team of 10-year-olds have traveled from Delaware to New Jersey and back to the Capital Region. They competed in the regional final on Tuesday facing the defending Mid-Atlantic champions with a trip to Virginia on the line.

“I’m going to remember that they left their hearts right out on the field today,” Jack O’Keefe said. “They played to the finish. We’ve talked about fighting until that last pitch, and that’s what this group of 12 boys do. I love these guys. I love being their coach. They’ve made me very proud. I think all of their parents in the stands are very proud of them, and it’s only going to make us stay hungry for the next seasons to come.”

The team won 88 percent of their games and went 16-0 to make it to the regional final. They finished the seasons 44-6.
