ALBANY, N.Y. – A former professional football player was in the Capital Region Wednesday to stress the importance of healthy living.
Byron Hunt was a linebacker from the 1986 Super Bowl champion New York Giants. He is also the spokesperson for the Liberty Games, formerly known as the Empire State Games.
The Games stress exercise, health and education, which is something Hunt said needs to be a focal point in today’s society.
“It’s good to reach out and touch people that maybe have never had a chance to do anything,” he said. “You know, you don’t have to be the best. Yes, it is competition, but everybody’s gotta start somewhere. So we’re looking for a lot of people to start this year and grow up to be wonderful athletes.”
The Liberty Games will take place from July 12-20.
