SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – A race horse, trainer and jockey will be raising funds for a children’s cancer research foundation on Sunday.
Princess of Sylmar won a pair of Grade One Stakes races at the Saratoga Race Course in 2013. She will be raising money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation at the Spa on Sunday.
Her trainer Todd Pletcher and jockey Javier Castellano will be singing autographs from 11 a.m. to noon at the jockey’s Silks Room porch. Guests who voluntarily donate money will receive an autographed hat, poster or t-shirt donated by Princess of Sylmar.
“She knows we all love it,” owner Ed Stanco said. “She has a lot of fans here, and I’m telling you, that makes her run even faster. And that’s why she loves it here. And so, for us, she’s very nice with people, but she can be a killer on the track.”
Princess of Sylmar will run in the Grade One Personal Ensign on August 22, the day before the Travers.
