TROY, N.Y. – J.P. Sportsman returned to the Capital Region to play professional ball.
The Schenectady native has hit his way through his first professional season. Oakland’s 27th round draft pick started in rookie ball, earned a promotion to Vermont and returned to Joe Bruno stadium Wednesday for his first time as a professional.
He went one for four Wednesday.
“It’s awesome,” he said. “It seems like yesterday, four, five years ago that I was out here playing high school ball competing for a sectional championship, so it’s pretty cool being here playing professional baseball.
