ALBANY, N.Y. – Christian Brothers Academy won its third Section II title in 2013 against Shaker High School, and the two teams are set to meet again at the start of the 2014 season.
A Super Bowl rematch between CBA and Shaker highlights the Week One schedule as the first game of the season.
Both squads have lost some key players, but CBA will look fairly similar returning 11 starters. Head coach Joe Burke said it’s an unfortunate advantage in some ways because that means the pressure is on his team to win.
Even though the Brothers will carry the target on their backs this season, Burke wants his guys to prepare and play like the underdogs.
“Regardless of the talent level that’s back, it’s important that the kids don’t let their guard down,” he said. “And those that think that they’re at the top of the world at times, it’s our job to keep them grounded.”
Despite the returning players, Burke said his team will have a different style in the upcoming season.
