TROY, N.Y. – The Tri-City ValleyCats are getting ready for another season at “The Joe.”
The defending New York-Penn League champions will host the Connecticut Tigers Friday night, yet manager Ed Romero is still waiting for some players to show up.
Romero said the team currently has 20 players, which were training with the club in Kissimmee, Fla., with five more expected to come in by Friday.
The Cats are looking for an encore to defending their title.
“We will try to win again, simple,” Romero said. “We got to remember that development is first, so I just talked to the guys yesterday in a meeting and I told them it’s good to develop and that’s our job to develop as a staff, but the more you develop the better the chance you get to win.”
The first pitch is set for 7 p.m. Friday. The Cats will roll out their championship banner, and there will also be post-game fireworks.
