TROY, N.Y. – Mike Hurteau is entering his first season as head coach of the Troy High School football team, and he calls it his dream job.
Hurteau takes over for Jack Burger who led troy to a 6-3 record and a semifinal berth last season.
Now Hurteau, who won two state championships as a player in Rensselaer County, is looking to instill the same kind of passion in his team that he had in the 1990s.
Troy will also feature a new quarterback this season. Senior Elijah Thomas steps in as last year’s starter, Joe Germinerio, transferred to La Salle.
Thomas and the Flying Horses first test will be at Averill Park on September 5.
