Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Yankees officially made a qualifying offer to second baseman Robinson Cano as well as two other free agents, pitcher Hiroki Kuroda and outfielder Curtis Granderson, prior to Monday's deadline to do so.

By tendering the one-year, $14.1 million offer for the upcoming 2014 season, the Yankees would receive compensatory picks between the first and second round of next year's First-Year Player Draft if those players decide to sign with another team. Each has until Nov. 11 to accept the bid and forego free agency.

As perhaps the most coveted free agent on this year's market, Cano is fully expected to reject the offer in lieu of landing a huge multi-year deal. The five-time All-Star has batted over .300 while hitting at least 25 home runs in each of the last five seasons, and is still in the prime of his career at age 31.

Granderson is coming off a disappointing and injury-plagued campaign in which the slugger hit just .229 with seven homers and 15 RBI while limited to 61 games. The 32-year-old ranked second in the American League with 41 and 43 home runs, respectively, over the previous two seasons and surpassed the 100- RBI mark in each of those campaigns.

Kuroda may be the the most likely of the trio to accept a one-year deal, as he will turn 39 in February. The right-hander did so last season, agreeing to a $15 million contract with the Yankees after considering a return to his native Japan.

The veteran hurler went just 11-13 with New York in 2013, but registered a solid 3.31 ERA with 150 strikeouts over 32 starts. Kuroda has started 31 games or more in four consecutive seasons.
