Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers added Alex Rios to the active roster on Saturday.

Texas acquired the outfielder and cash considerations from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations on Friday.

Rios batted .277 with 12 home runs, 22 doubles, 26 stolen bases and 55 RBI in 109 games for the White Sox this season.

The 32-year-old Rios has a career batting average of .278 with 311 doubles, 155 homers, 211 stolen bases and 682 RBI over 1,408 games with Toronto (2004-09) and Chicago (2009-13). He was an All-Star in 2006 and 2007.

To make room on the roster, the Rangers optioned outfielder Joey Butler to Triple-A Round Rock.

Butler hit a pair of doubles and scored two runs over his two-game call-up from the minors on Monday.

He was hitting .290 with 10 homers, 21 doubles and 44 RBI at Round Rock.
