Recap: Milwaukee vs. Houston

Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - Ryan Braun went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI and Zack Greinke remained undefeated at Miller Park, as Milwaukee edged the Houston Astros, 6-5, in the opener of a three-game series.

Greinke (2-1) struck out nine over his six-inning start and allowed two runs on eight hits while improving to 13-0 in 18 home starts dating back to last season. The Brewers, who were coming off a series loss to the Rockies, have won all 18 of those starts.

"Zack was good again. He was a little bit off on his command, but threw some great pitches," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said of his starter. "Another really good performance from him."

Brian Bogusevic drove in three runs and Jed Lowrie went 2-for-5 with a solo homer for the Astros, who were coming off a 12-0 win over the Dodgers.

Lucas Harrell (1-1) surrendered five runs on five hits and three walks over five innings to take the loss.

Trailing 5-2 to start the sixth, Brandon Lyon relieved Harrell and promptly gave up a leadoff walk and a base hit to put runners on the corners. A wild pitch to the next hitter allowed Corey Hart to race home, and while Lyon limited the damage, the insurance run proved to be the difference.

Houston rallied for three runs off Jose Veras in the seventh, as Bogusevic tripled to bring in Lowrie and Carlos Lee before scoring on Chris Johnson's base hit up the middle.

Veras stranded two in the frame, and Francisco Rodriguez retired the Astros in order in the eighth to set the stage for John Axford, who gave up a leadoff single but struck out the next three batters to record his third save.

"The guys battled well and got us right back in the game," Astros manager Brad Mills said. "It [the big hit] is coming ."

Lowrie homered off Greinke in the first inning, but the Brewers scored three in their half to take control.

Braun plated Norichika Aoki with a single and raced around to score when Aramis Ramirez hooked a sinking liner down the right-field corner for a triple.

Hart followed with a sacrifice fly and three innings later legged out a triple of his own before scoring on Mat Gamel's flyout to right.

With the bases loaded the fifth, Greinke walked Bogusevic on a payoff pitch to force in Harrell, but Braun quickly got the run back with his third home run of the season in the bottom half -- a low line drive that barely cleared the wall in left-center.
