Recap: St. Louis vs. Colorado

St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Jhonny Peralta hit a two-run homer and the St. Louis Cardinals completed a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies with Sunday's 4-1 victory.

The Cardinals still lead the NL Central by 3 1/2 games over the Pirates and have Monday off before starting a three-game series against the third-place Brewers, who are five games back.

Matt Holliday doubled twice, knocked in a run and scored another in the victory, which was awarded to Marco Gonzales (3-2) for throwing 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball.

Jordan Lyles (6-3) surrendered three runs on nine hits over six frames in Colorado's sixth consecutive loss.

The only run the Rockies mustered came in the second inning courtesy of Brandon Barnes' RBI double.

St. Louis plated three runs in the fourth, as Holliday doubled in Jon Jay and trotted around when Peralta took Lyles deep for his 21st home run of the year.

Yadier Molina scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning, and Trevor Rosenthal struck out the side in the ninth to post his 44th save.

Game Notes

Lyles is winless in his last seven outings ... St. Louis took five of the six meetings with the Rockies this season ... The Rockies struck out 16 times ... Molina recorded three of the Cardinals' 13 hits.
