Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Mets on Sunday set their 25- man roster for Opening Day.
The Mets selected the contract of infielder Omar Quintanilla from Triple-A Las Vegas and reassigned infielders Anthony Seratelli and Eric Campbell, catcher Taylor Teagarden and pitchers Daisuke Matsuzaka and Kyle Farnsworth to Triple- A.
The team also placed pitcher Matt Harvey, who will spend the entire season rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, on the 60-day disabled list. The Mets also placed pitcher Jon Niese on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 21, with plans to activate him for his first start April 6.
Niese missed nearly two months of last season due to a partially torn rotator cuff, but did not require surgery. He went 5-2 with a 3.00 ERA in 10 starts after returning to the mound in mid-August.
In 24 overall starts in 2013, Niese compiled an 8-8 record with a 3.71 ERA.
The 27-year-old won a career-high 13 games while posting a 3.40 ERA in 2012.
