Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - The Carolina Panthers have signed safety Quintin Mikell and placed safety Haruki Nakamura on injured reserve.
Nakamura is sidelined with a concussion. He started 13 games for the Panthers last year and recorded a pair of interceptions after playing his first four NFL seasons in a reserve role with Baltimore.
Mikell, a 10-year veteran, spent the past two seasons with St. Louis after playing his first eight years with Philadelphia.
In 155 NFL games, including 91 starts, the Boise State product has 742 tackles, 12 interceptions, eight sacks, seven fumble recoveries and 16 forced fumbles. He was a 2009 Pro Bowl selection.
