Bloomfield Hills, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Darris McCord, a Detroit native and a member of the Detroit Lions' "Fearsome Foursome" died Wednesday. He was 80.

McCord was selected in the third round by Detroit in the 1955 draft. He spent his entire NFL career with the Lions, missing only two of a possible 170 games from 1955-67.

"Darris will not only be remembered as a cornerstone to the Lions' great Fearsome Foursome defensive line of the 1960s, but also as someone who made many positive contributions to the Detroit community over the last five decades," Lions president Tom Lewand said.

McCord earned the lone Pro Bowl trip of his career at defensive tackle on Detroit's 1957 championship squad.
