Allen Park, MI (Sports Network) - The Detroit Lions placed defensive tackle Nick Fairley on season-ending injured reserve on Wednesday with a shoulder injury.

Fairley, the 13th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, injured his shoulder in the fourth quarter of the Lions' 27-20 loss to the Packers on Dec. 9. Fairley missed the team's Week 15 loss to the Cardinals and it is unclear if he will need surgery to repair the injury.

Over 13 games this season, Fairley recorded 34 tackles, 5 1/2 sacks and one pass defensed.

Detroit signed defensive tackle Ogemdi Nwagbuo to fill Fairley's roster spot. Nwagbuo has 44 career tackles and 1 1/2 sacks over three seasons with the San Diego Chargers and Carolina Panthers.
