Hurricanes' Murphy fined for clipping

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The National Hockey League fined Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Ryan Murphy $2,213.68 on Monday for clipping New York Rangers forward Derek Dorsett during a Nov. 2 contest.

Murphy was assessed a minor penalty on the play, which occurred at the 13:36 mark of the second period in an eventual 5-1 New York victory.

The fine money goes directly to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
