San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - San Jose forward Raffi Torres underwent surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Arthur Ting.

"Raffi's surgery went very well and we look forward to having him back in our line-up later this season," said Sharks general manager Doug Wilson on Thursday.

The Mercury News reported Monday that Torres sustained the injury to his right knee during a collision with Anaheim's Emerson Etem during last Friday's preseason contest.

Torres, 31, posted two goals and six points in 11 games last season after being acquired from Phoenix, then was suspended for the duration of San Jose's postseason after delivering an illegal hit to the head of Los Angeles Kings forward Jarret Stoll during Game 1 of their second-round series.

Heading into his 12th NHL season, the Sharks signed Torres to a three-year contract back in June.

San Jose opens its 2013-14 schedule against Vancouver on Oct. 3.
