New York, NY ( - Major League Soccer unveiled its complete 2014 regular-season schedule on Monday, with a slight caveat as the world turns its attention to the World Cup in Brazil.

Similar to the schedule for the 2010 season, the league will take a two-week break between June 12-24 for the group stage of the World Cup as many MLS players are expected to compete on the biggest stage in world soccer.

The league's 19th season will commence on Saturday March 8 in Seattle when the Sounders welcome Sporting Kansas City to CenturyLink Field, followed by seven matches that evening and one on Sunday, March 9. The regular season will conclude on Oct. 26 before the MLS Cup playoffs begin the following week.

Rivalry matches highlight the early portion of the schedule as Cascadia foes Seattle and the Portland Timbers will battle at Jeld-Wen Field on April 5, while the first edition of the Trillium Cup between the Columbus Crew and Toronto FC will also take place on April 5.

The day's later matches include a rematch of the 2013 MLS Cup final between Real Salt Lake and Sporting Kansas City as well as the Texas derby between the Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas.

Following the World Cup, the Aug. 2 slate of rivalry matches includes Colorado vs. Real Salt Lake, Montreal vs. Toronto, LA vs. Portland and the first-ever event at the new Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, CA when the San Jose Earthquakes host the Seattle Sounders.

September's marquee matches include an Eastern Conference clash between Red Bull New York and Sporting Kansas City on the 6th, while Real Salt Lake and Seattle will lock horns at CenturyLink Field on the 12th.

A rematch of this season's Western Conference final between RSL and Portland will kick off on Oct. 17, while the Los Angeles Galaxy and Sounders face off on the 19th at StubHub Center.

On the final day of the season, Red Bull New York and Sporting Kansas City will renew their rivalry and the postseason will begin the following week.
