Michigan State, after beating Stanford in the Rose Bowl, climbed one spot to No. 3 and was followed by Capital One Bowl winner South Carolina and Missouri, which captured the Cotton Bowl over Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma, Alabama, Clemson, Oregon and UCF completed the top 10. Alabama fell four spots to finish No. 7 after losing to Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl.

Stanford, Ohio State, Baylor, LSU, Louisville, UCLA, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, USC and Notre Dame finished 11-20 in that order.

The last five ranked teams were Arizona State, Wisconsin, Duke, Vanderbilt and Washington.
