Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Memphis All-Star center Marc Gasol left Friday's 102-86 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in the second quarter with a knee injury and did not return.
The reigning Defensive Player of the Year was hurt on a non-contact play early in the period. Gasol was defending Jeff Ayres in the post, and as Ayres went to receive an entry pass from Manu Ginobili, Gasol limped off the court in obvious pain.
He was diagnosed with a left knee sprain and will undergo an MRI on Saturday to determine the extent of the injury.
Gasol played 10 minutes and tallied two points, two rebounds and three assists before his departure.
