Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - One day after making headlines by re- acquiring the NBA's best player, the Cleveland Cavaliers have pulled off a minor trade.

The Cavaliers obtained veteran center Brendan Haywood from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for guard Scotty Hopson and cash considerations, the team announced Saturday.

Cleveland will also receive the rights to forward Dwight Powell, the 45th overall pick of this year's NBA Draft.

Haywood has averaged 6.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks over a 13-year NBA career, though the 7-footer sat out the entire 2013-14 campaign due to a stress fracture in his left foot.

In his lone season with Charlotte, Haywood averaged 3.5 points and 4.8 rebounds over 61 games in 2012-13.

The 34-year-old North Carolina product won an NBA title as a member of the Dallas Mavericks, who bested LeBron James' Miami Heat in the 2011 Finals in six games.

James, of course, rejoined the Cavaliers on Friday in the most anticipated decision of this year's offseason. The four-time MVP spent his first seven seasons in Cleveland prior to bolting for the Heat as a free agent in 2010 and leading Miami to a pair of NBA championships and four Finals appearances.

The 24-year-old Hopson has played in his two NBA games, both with Cleveland this past season, after beginning his pro career in Europe in 2011.

Powell was a four-year starter at Stanford who twice earned All-Pac-12 honors for the Cardinal and averaged 14.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists as a senior.
