Lightning sign Palat to three-year deal

Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed forward Ondrej Palat to a three-year contract.

Palat is a finalist for the Calder Trophy as the NHL's top rookie after leading the Lightning with 59 points and a plus-32 rating while appearing in 81 games during the 2013-14 season. He notched 23 goals and 36 assists.

The 23-year-old Czech native was second among all rookies in points and third in goals. He has played 95 games in two seasons with Tampa Bay and has notched 25 goals with 38 assists for 63 points.

Palat, who also played for the Czech Republic during the 2014 Olympics, was selected by the Lightning in the seventh round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
