New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The FCS is a level for NFL teams to find hidden gems.

The Detroit Lions hope they uncovered one in Princeton defensive tackle Caraun Reid, whom they selected in the fifth round with the 158th overall pick of the NFL Draft on Saturday.

Reid was considered as high as a third-round pick, but might have fallen for his slightly smaller 6-foot-2, 302-pound size for the defensive line. Still, he is Princeton's highest selection in the common draft era.

The runner-up as a senior for the Ivy League's defensive player of the year award, Reid often faced double or triple teams by opposing offenses. He finished his career with 41 tackles for loss and 20.5 sacks while also blocking seven kicks in his career.

A 2013 Buck Buchanan Award finalist, Reid had sacks on back-to-back plays at the Senior Bowl in January.
