New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo and Utah Jazz guard Trey Burke were named Eastern and Western Conference rookies of the month, respectively, for the month of December.
The Magic's second overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, Oladipo ranked second among rookies in steals (1.3 spg) and in minutes (32.1 mpg) and third in scoring (12.7 ppg) and assists (3.8 apg). He also ranked sixth among first- year players in rebounding (4.5 rpg).
Oladipo has scored in double figures 10 times and had 20 or more points twice. He also recorded a triple-double of 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a 126-125 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Dec. 3 in Philadlephia.
Burke led all NBA rookies in assists (5.9 apg) and free-throw percentage (91.9 percent). He also ranked second among first year players in scoring (14.8 ppg) and minutes (32.7 mpg).
Burke, the ninth overall selection out of Michigan, had scored in double figures in 13 of 16 games in December with five or more assists in 12 games. His career-high is 30 points in a 86-82 victory over the Magic on Dec. 18.
