Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Texans and defensive end J.J. Watt will hold a press conference on Tuesday amid reports he has signed a lucrative extension.

The Texans said Watt will be available to the media at 6 p.m. EDT.

The Houston Chronicle reported late Monday night that Watt and the Texans reached an agreement on a six-year contract extension worth $100 million, which would make him the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL.

According to the report, Watt's new deal begins in 2016 and includes $51.8 million guaranteed.

Watt was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2012 after registering a league-best 20 1/2 sacks. His sack total dropped to 10 1/2 last season.

The Texans selected Watt 11th overall in 2011.
