Madison, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Tanner McEvoy will reportedly be the starting quarterback for the 14th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers when the school kicks off its schedule Aug. 30 against 13th-ranked LSU.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, citing three sources, head coach Gary Anderson has chosen the red-shirt junior transfer over returning starting QB Joel Stave.
McEvoy transferred before last season from Arizona Western College, where he threw for 1,943 yards and 25 touchdowns in his lone season at the school. A dual-threat, he also ran for 414 yards and six scores.
Last year with the Badgers, he struggled at QB and was moved to safety.
Stave started all 13 games for the Badgers last season, passing for 2,494 yards and 22 touchdowns with 13 picks.
