(SportsNetwork.com) - Ten days after Gardner-Webb announced All-America defensive end Shaquille Riddick would transfer from the program, he announced on Friday that he will play his final season at West Virginia University.

"This is my future I'm excited to be apart of such a amazing culture and program. #wvu #mountaineer #blueandgold," Riddick posted on his Twitter account.

"I'm ready to help an already amazing program," he wrote in another tweet.

The 6-foot-6, 244-pound pro prospect is on track to graduate two semesters early from Gardner-Webb - in August - and can use his final season of eligibility immediately pending graduation and acceptance into a graduate program at an FBS school. Gardner-Webb's announcement on May 6 said Riddick would seek out opportunities to play on the FBS level closer to his hometown of Akron, Ohio.

Riddick finished fifth in the 2013 Buck Buchanan Award voting for FCS defensive player of the year and would have been the nation's top returning vote-getter this season.

As a junior last season, Riddick finished with 67 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and 17 quarterback pressures in 11 games. Gardner-Webb had a 7-5 season.
