Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Marquette has named Steve Wojciechowski as its new men's basketball coach.

The former Duke assistant replaces Buzz Williams, who left Marquette on March 21 to take the vacancy at Virginia Tech.

"I come from an environment where the expectation is to win, and that is why I chose Marquette," Wojciechowski said in a statement Tuesday. "I am particularly impressed with Marquette's investment in men's basketball and I'm thrilled to join an institution with so much rich history in both basketball and academic excellence. Having been a student-athlete, I know first-hand what it takes to succeed both on and off the court, and I bring tremendous passion when it comes to shaping our players into successful athletes and men."

Wojciechowski, 37, spent the past 15 seasons as an assistant at Duke under Mike Krzyzewski and served on the staff for NCAA championship teams in 2001 and 2010.

Krzyzewski expressed his gratitude for Wojciechowski's efforts, saying "Steve gave his heart and soul" to the program and "he was a vital part" of Duke's success.

Wojciechowski played four years as a point guard for the Blue Devils.
